For 12/1 Class

Step 1: Give your final position paper to the teacher (No Late Papers Will be Accepted!)

Step 2: Write an Opening Speech (due on 12/8)

Step 3: Write out 5~6 practical, specific solutions for your issue


Opening Speech:

Greeting: 1 sentence ("Honorable Chairs and fellow delegates, the delegate of _____________ is very pleased to be here today") or something very similar to that.

Outline of the issue: 1~2 sentences  
("The issue of ________ is ...")

Your country's position: 1~2 sentences 
("The delegate of _____ believes that ...")

Possible solutions: 1~2 sentences 
("The solutions for this problem are ...")

Call for Cooperation: 1 sentence ("__________ is looking forward to cooperating with all nations to work toward a suitable solution to this very important issue. Thank you.") or something like that.

Your opening speech should be one paragraph long and should take no more than 60 seconds to read out loud.

Remember to bring your SKMUN handbook to class. Don't lose it!

HW for 11/17

1) Draw a graph showing the 5~6 different parts (aspects) of your issue

2) Write down some solution ideas for each part of the problem

Example:

Issue: 
You get bad grades

Parts of the Problem: 
Study habits, environment, study effectiveness, time management, attention level

Solutions:  
Study habits --> Pre-read what will be covered in class, take notes on lectures, refer to notes when doing homework/studying, ask friends/teacher if you don't understand

Environment --> no cellphone use during study time, no television, don't study somewhere too dark, noisy, hot, etc, study with friends who have good habits

Time management --> don't procrastinate, finish things when they are assigned (don't wait), don't spend too much time only one or two subjects, use a clock/watch to manage your time

Attention level --> don't sleep in class / during study time, get enough sleep at night, exercise, meditate each week

Solutions should include: 
both short-term and long-term solutions
both local (inside) and international (outside) solutions
