On 11/10, your First Draft of your Position Paper is DUE. Use the time on 11/3 to research, write, and discuss with your group and peers.
Position paper should have three paragraphs
Paragraph One -> Background
- What is the problem? (summary)
- Why is it such a big problem? Why should we care about this?
- When/Where is it a problem? When/Where did it start?
- What effects does it have on society/the world? Who does it affect the most?
Paragraph Two -> Current Situation
- Who are the key players working to solve this problem (countries, NGOs, UN Organizations)?
- What have they done in the past to solve the problem?
- What are they doing now to solve the problem?
- Why has the problem not been solved?
Paragraph Three -> Solutions
- Give 3-5 solutions to solve the problem
- Each solution should focus on one part of the problem
- Each solution should be specific and practical
Remember to write in paragraph form, not make a list of answers to these questions. Write as much as you can, not as little as you can. Do not complain to Andy or make his life difficult, he is here to help out. Also, no dancing on the desks or swinging from the fans!
